May 15 The Little MovieTwo of the Korean children I tutor decided they wanted to make a movie. I suppose I should clarify that. All of my kids wanted to make a movie, but only one family finished writing the script. Since they decided they really wanted to make a movie, I asked my husband if he would help. So what we ended up with is a short movie loosely based on a traditional Korean story. We modified the story quite a bit from the original, but we had an excellent time making the movie. All of my children will return to Korea at the end of the month. I will miss them greatly. So below are two of my children - James and Amy and their little movie called Rich of Heart, Poor of Heart. Enjoy!
May 03 MoonlightMilky white transparent shadows graze softly on the emerald lawn Lighted by the moonlight Silvery streaks grace the color within Smoke simmers beneath the surface The blush of morning’s dawn drawing near A promise of something more Brilliant light scares away the inky blackness of the sky Lunar brilliance fades as day dawns The ever watchful eye waits to reflect its light May 01 Things I love…I love the way my husband looks at me. He has a smile in his eyes that means so much. I love the way he holds me close. I love the way he smells. I love listening to music. I like that we have a tradition of listening to soft music before bed. I love that my husband does special things for me, like programming a CD in the car to play a love song when I turn it on. I love the children I tutor. I love how they feel that they can tell me anything. I love their hugs and their smiles. I love opening a new box of sleepy tea. The spearmint never smells quite as fresh as when you open a brand new box. I love telling people I love them. I love saying nice things to people. There is something in a reaction that lets you know they really needed to hear something nice that day. I love popping bubble wrap. I also love watching other people smile as they are popping bubble wrap. One of my Korean boys had a piece of bubble wrap today and he jumped up and down, up and down, smiling the largest smile and it was pure joy. I love playing with puppies. I love my fuzzy pink bathrobe. I love playing games. Not for the games sake, but for the closeness and communication it can bring. I love playing softball, more specifically, I love throwing the ball as hard as I can as far as I can. It’s great for tension relief. I love making up new songs on the fly. There’s nothing like rewording a popular song to say whatever I want. I love the sound of children laughing. I love the sound of children singing. I love gymnastics. I love the gentle teasing that I can do with people that I know very well. I love being teased by them in return. I love opening and writing with brand new pens and pencils on a brand new pad or book. I love reading. I love reading stories out loud. I love telling stories – real and make believe. I love coming up with new ideas. I love taking pictures. I love working. I love typing. I love working with my hands. I love swimming. I love horseback riding. I love trying new things. (New foods are sometimes scary, but as long as it’s not bugs, I’m okay with it.) I love putting on makeup. I love straightening my hair. I love making crafts with my students. I love Easter. I love decorating eggs and hiding them. I love Christmas and the togetherness with family it brings. I love going for walks. I love traveling. I love riding in the car. I love seeing new places. I love words. I love learning new words. I love happiness. I love seeing happy people. I love how things change. (It means that things cannot stay bad, right? J) I love the light at the end of the tunnel. I love James Earl Jones’ voice. I love Casablanca and The Princess Bride, and lots and lots of other movies. I love to sleep. I love being at home. (I’m not here enough, that’s soon about to change.) I love seeing the potential in things. I love seeing things grow. I love spring. I love fall. I love watching snow fall. |
