Toothbrushes and Marriage - They are Similar

I like to find pleasure in the little things in life.  You are going to think this is so silly.  I was going into the bathroom to put on my makeup.  I had turned on the light and when I looked down and noticed that the man and my toothbrushes were looking in the exact same direction.

Now you are probably thinking, "Big Deal," or you have some other thought floating through your head, but it was really and odd site for me.  We have this brushed nickel toothbrush holder.  It is rainbow shaped with four holes running across the top.  There is a hole in the middle so it really does look rainbowish, except that it is this matted silvery color.  Anyway, the man and I keep our toothbrushes in the two center holes.  Sometimes the brushes face each other, sometimes they face opposite directions one looking east and the other looking west or one looking north and the other looking south.  This particular morning they were both looking in the mirror.  They were in the exact, precise same direction.  This was unplanned.  This struck me as neat.

Seeing those two toothbrushes in their container facing the same direction, exactly made me think of being married.  You start out being married and things go in every direction.  You don't know which way to look or to go or what to do next, then suddenly one day you wake up and you are both facing the exact perfect direction together.

Together is important.  I like being together.  I like that he and I are on the same path together, and that we're both headed in the same direction.

What's really extraordinary about the whole toothbrush thing is that I haven't been able to recreate it.  I can actually try to get the toothbrushes in the same direction, but it's never perfect, not like that one day when it was magic.  I can't make them line up the same.

    Three Oven Monkeys

The Korean boys I tutor in English decided we should write a play.  They figured since we had already authored books that it was the logical next step.  After writing the play we decided that we should perform it for their mom.  I videoed the performance.

Here is a link to the play:

You may have to turn up the volume to hear them.  We have not worked on projecting voices yet. ;-)

They had such fun doing this that we wrote a longer version, but I have not taped it.  I think they want to write a movie as our next project.  I'll let you know how that goes.
