    Kids

My Korean students have all started school.  The girl that I thought would have the most difficult time is doing very well and the girl that I thought would do very well seems to be having a difficult time.  I think it will be better for her in a week or so.  I think she is just having a difficult time with the switching classes and hearing/understanding what the teachers want her to do.  I'm trying to help her as much as I can.

Before school started I had the kids over and we Simpsonized ourselves.  They got to pick how they looked.  They loved it.

We also played pin the tail on the donkey since it was one of the boys birthdays.  They liked that very much.

I have three other students, but they didn't get to come because they were on vacation.  I want to get their images later.

One of the kids asked me why I was lighter than everyone else, then they looked at me really closely and said, "Nevermind".  Yes, I am that pale and pasty.  :)

    Suicidal Worms

The man and I have been walking in the mornings.  We have been trying to do it every morning, notice I said trying.  We've been fortunate that if we miss the morning that we can make a late evening walk.

I enjoy the walk.  I enjoy the conversation.  Although sometimes the scenery can be very disturbing.  I think it's all the dead fried worms.

In the neighborhood in which we live there are no sidewalks, except for one stretch that's maybe a 1/4 mile long a few blocks over.  That lovely piece of concrete is a deathtrap for worms.  I don't see any worms except for on that sidewalk.

It makes the man and I ponder the lives of worms.

Why did the worm cross the sidewalk?  (To get to the other side! HA)  Except they never make it to the other side.  Every chicken that I've seen has made it to the other side of the road, but those silly worms must wait until the heat of the day before they work up the nerve.  "Well, Joe didn't make it yesterday, I think I'll wait until after his cremation before I make my attempt," maybe that's what they're thinking.  Except then there will be another fried worm on the sidewalk.  It's a never ending cycle.  Dead worm, wiggling worm that will soon be a dead worm and so on and on and on and on...

I suppose this is all a bit morbid.  But we seem to find some odd humor in it.

Are they going to work?  Is it payday?  What is worth slithering (crawling?) over hot concrete that is worth your life?  Inquiring minds must know.
